As your local MP my work for Stakes residents, locally and in Westminster, includes:
• Cutting National Insurance tax for working people and the self-employed from this January, putting £450 back into the pocket of the average worker.
• Boosting funding for Hampshire Police to roll-out a new Named Local Bobby Scheme, which means all Stakes residents now have a named police officer covering their street, and access to their e-mail and mobile number. Your local police are more contactable than ever before.
• Successfully securing £58million for a new Emergency Department at Queen Alexandra Hospital, which serves everyone in Stakes. It’s due to open this winter.
• Increasing cash funding for all our local primary and secondary schools in Stakes, which I visit and stay in touch with regularly.
• Securing £85,000 of Government funding to refurbish Springwood Avenue Play Area next to Springwood Community Centre. They money paid for new slides, swings, springy animal seats, see-saws and mini forts with rope nets – all very popular with local children and parents!
• Extending the £2 single bus fare cap until the end of 2024, making bus travel cheaper for Stakes residents.
• Launching my Tree Planting Challenge, supported by the Woodland Trust, to plant more trees to improve our environment. Over 150 new trees have been planted, with more to come!
