11,600 households across the Havant Constituency will receive their second Cost of Living Payment funded by the Government from today.
This is the second of three new payments totalling £900 in this 2023/24 financial year, providing cost of living help to the most vulnerable. Across the UK, over 8 million households will benefit.

Local MP Alan Mak joined the Chancellor on the Front Bench in Parliament as he announced new cost of living help for people across the Havant Constituency and our country.
The Government announced:
- A boost to the energy rebate from £200 to £400, with the rebate being turned into a grant for every household. It will no longer need to be paid back;
- A £650 cost of living payment for over 8 million of the most vulnerable households, direct into the bank accounts of around 1 in 3 households across the UK;
- A £300 pensioner cost of living payment for every pensioner in receipt of Winter Fuel Payments; and
- A £150 disability cost of living payment for those in receipt of disability benefits, helping nearly 6 million people.
A temporary new levy on energy companies to fund the Government’s new cost of living help package will also come into force.
The Government is now providing over £37 billion of support to help families and communities across the Havant Constituency and our country with living costs, following the announcement.
Alan Mak MP said, “I welcome this new package of measures which will help residents and families across the Havant Constituency and our country. Everyone will receive £400 to help with energy costs, with many eligible households receiving over £1000 when all the separate cost of living help payments are taken together. This is tangible and impactful help for everyone, especially our oldest and most vulnerable residents.”
