London 2012

Alan Mak MP carried the Olympic Torch for the London 2012 Summer Olympics on 20 June, 2012, through the town of Bedale in North Yorkshire.

He was selected for his service as President and Trustee of Magic Breakfast, a registered charity that provides healthy school breakfasts to children at risk of hunger in disadvantaged areas of the UK.

Looking back on the experience, Alan says, "It was a great honour to be selected to carry the Olympic Torch in my home county of North Yorkshire in recognition of my work for Magic Breakfast and tackling child hunger. Thank you to everyone who came to support me on the day!”
