Local MP Alan Mak has welcomed Havant being named as the best place in England to work in manufacturing.
The town has ranked first in the English Engines of Growth Index published by software-first manufacturing company Isembard, which provides components for critical industries.
It was awarded top spot because of a seven per cent increase in the number of manufacturing businesses in the past five years - the highest growth rate in the South East.
Havant now has 22 manufacturing firms for every 10,000 residents.
Rankings are based on factors including the density of manufacturing businesses, rapid growth of those businesses, the number of apprenticeships in engineering completed in 2025/2026, manufacturing wages, and the number of jobs in the sector.
Havant's manufacturing roots stretch back to its 20th century growth as a hub for engineering and marine-related industry. This legacy continues today through its advanced manufacturing, marine and defence sectors, including major businesses such as Lockheed Martin.
Recent manufacturing growth in Havant has been driven by hi-tech facilities and major expansions at key business hubs such as Dunsbury Park and Langstone Park.
Mr Mak said: "I'm delighted Havant has been named the best place in England to work in manufacturing in Isembard's analysis.
