Local MP Alan Mak has shown his continued support for the Local Bobby Scheme in Havant and Emsworth which he campaigned for.
He met up with PC Sophie McCarthy, who is a Designated Neighbourhood Officer for both areas alongside colleague PC Cassie Milne.
Recently Mr Mak has also been on patrol on Hayling Island with Sergeant Vitto Manetti, who now manages community policing on the Island and in Havant and Emsworth.
The Local Bobby Scheme was a Conservative policy introduced in Hampshire in 2024. It ensures the public have access to a named and easily contactable police officer who is also a visible presence in the community.
The Scheme supports Mr Mak’s objective of ensuring the police deliver visible, active local policing.
PC McCarthy explained: "As Local Bobbies we get to know the local community really well and we also get to know who the prolific offenders are.
"Our goal is to be visible and we put on lots of beat surgeries."
She added: "In Havant one of the main issues is anti-social behaviour, especially during school holidays when the kids are off. We also get incidents of shoplifting, so we regularly patrol Solent Retail Park.
"We also get anti-social behaviour in Emsworth, which again increases in summer."
Mr Mak said: "I want our police to be visible and active in the community, so I called on the last Conservative government and Hampshire Police to implement the Local Bobby Scheme.
"It was good to meet PC McCarthy and I urge residents to get to know their Local Bobby and to contact them if they have any concerns about crime and anti-social behaviour."
