Local MP Alan Mak has been to watch Havant Hockey Club training after becoming Honorary Patron.
He was greeted by chair Glyn Knaresborough and met players from the women's and men's 1st XIs being put through their paces on the artificial pitch at Havant and South Downs College.
Mr Mak, who was a keen hockey player at school and university and played for Havant after he became MP, also met some of the Club coaches.
Havant Hockey Club has been part of the local community for more than 120 years and provides sporting opportunities for players of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
Mr Mak is a strong supporter of local sports clubs and believes they play an important role promoting social interaction and an active lifestyle.
As well as Honorary Patron of Havant Hockey Club, he is Vice President of Havant & Waterlooville Football Club and Havant Rugby Club. He is also President of Havant Borough Sports Association and supports its annual awards.
Mr Mak said: "I'm delighted to become Honorary Patron of Havant Hockey Club. It's a fantastic community club with a long history and bright future. I'm proud to support the important role it plays in promoting health and wellbeing and inclusion locally.
"I'm also fully behind the Club's aim to expand its work with schools and local organisations to encourage participation in sport."
