Local MP Alan Mak has accused Labour-controlled Havant Borough Council of a covert 'cash grab' over car park charges.
In 2025 Mr Mak campaigned against the introduction of charges at car parks across the borough that were previously free.
He launched a petition that also opposed charges being brought in across all HBC car parks on Sundays and bank holidays.
The council was forced to put its plans on hold. But now Mr Mak has warned that the car park 'cash grab' is back.
He said: "Last year we persuaded the council to think again, but now it has decided to plough on with the charges and has quietly started installing signs with tiny writing in its car parks.
"On top of charging where car parks were previously free, it has also increased car park charges across the board.
"This cash grab is unacceptable and I will continue opposing these charges, which are a result of poor financial decisions by Labour, Liberal Democrat and Green councillors.
"If you agree with me, please sign my petition."
