Local MP Alan Mak has visited Morrisons Daily on Hayling Island to show his support for shopworkers.
He met convenience store manager Joanne Mead and members of her team to discuss what life is like for retail staff today.
Mr Mak said: "I'd like to thank the Morrisons team for welcoming me and taking the time to talk about some of the challenges of being on the front line.
"I believe shopworkers should be able to work without fearing for their safety and that's why I've backed policies in Parliament which toughen punishments for shoplifting and attacks on shopworkers."
In 2023 the previous Conservative government launched its Retail Crime Action Plan. Then the following year it announced plans to create a new offence of assaulting a retail worker, expanding the use of electronic monitoring for frequent shoplifters and using new technologies to prevent and detect retail crime.
