Local MP Alan Mak officially switched on the Christmas lights in Emsworth, together with the Mayor of Havant.
They teamed up to push the plunger, lighting up the town to loud cheers and signifying the start of the festive period.
The crowds in St Peter's Square enjoyed singing by pupils from Emsworth Primary School and St James CEC Primary School.
Reverend Andrew Sheard and Reverend Bruce Watson from St James’ Church led the service and carols, while there were also stalls and children had the chance to visit Father Christmas in his grotto at Emsworth Slipper Sailing Club following his arrival by sleigh.
The famous Emsworth lobster pot Christmas tree was also back on display.
Mr Mak said: "I really enjoyed switching on the Christmas lights in Emsworth. It was a fun evening singing carols and listening to great performances from local schoolchildren.
"Thank you to Emsworth councillor Lulu Bowerman for her hard work organising the event. It was a great start to the Christmas season!"
