Local MP Alan Mak congratulates Link Up Leigh Park Youth Hub as they help 100 young people into work

Local MP Alan Mak has welcomed the news that the Link Up Leigh Park Youth Hub has hit the significant milestone of helping 100 young people into work.

The Youth Hub, which Mr Mak visited earlier this year, is funded by central Government.

Based at the Front Lawn Community Centre, the Youth Hub opened last September and offers support and coaching to 16-24 years olds seeking help with employment, education or training.

The Hub is open for 5 days a week between 10am and 4pm, and can assist with CV writing, job applications, interview attendance, confidence building, as well as playing an important role in the health and wellbeing of young people who come forward.

During his visit earlier this year, Mr Mak met Mason Robinson, 22, who was out of work and seeking employment. Mason spoke of how the Youth Hub has assisted him with filling in job applications, as well as training him in basic working practices such as email etiquette, interview skills and rebuilding his confidence.

Local MP Alan Mak said: “It’s great news that the Government-funded Youth Hub has already helped 100 local young people into work. Having the security, dignity and income from a job is vital to boosting living standards for local residents and I’m delighted to hear 100 young lives have already been transformed.”

He added: “I look forward to seeing more young people secure jobs through the Youth Hub, and I will continue to support the Hub’s work”.
