Local MP Alan Mak has welcomed an additional £14 million of Government funding that has been allocated to help local households with the cost of living pressures.

The funds, which have been allocated as part of the Government’s Household Support Fund (HSF) will allow the local authority to continue distributing support to local residents until the end of March 2024.

Hampshire County Council has received the £14 million from the Government and is using it across a wide array of organisations and mechanisms to support people in need, including Citizens’ Advice and the Community Pantry network.

Over £3 million is going towards providing food vouchers to the most vulnerable people.

£2.8 million will allocated to schools, colleges and early years settings so that families bringing up young children will also have access to support through these institutions.

Alan Mak MP said: “The Government is working hard to halve inflation, and while progress is being made there is still more work to be done. I welcome the announcement that the Household Support Fund has been extended to the end of March 2024. This critical funding has already helped thousands of Havant Constituency residents and I know that many residents will be glad to see that the support they depend on will continue to be available.”
