Local MP Alan Mak has attended the Armistice Day Remembrance Service at the Emsworth War Memorial where he laid a wreath to all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. He also gave a reading during the service conducted by Reverend Andrew Sheard.

Mr Mak laid a wreath at the service which took place at the Memorial Garden on Horndean Road in Emsworth following a two-minute silence at 11am to remember The Fallen.

Local MP Alan Mak said “We must never forget the service and sacrifice of our veterans, Armed Forces personnel and military families. I was honoured to lay at wreath again at Emsworth’s War Memorial to remember those from the town who have served our country and defended our freedom and democracy.”

As a longstanding Royal British Legion volunteer and Vice President of Havant’s Royal British Legion Branch, Mr Mak plays an active role in local Remembrance-related events each year. This year, he has also joined poppy sellers from the Royal British Legion in Havant and Hayling Island, and presented a £4000 cheque to the local Royal British Legion Branch in Havant to launch the fundraising for this year’s Poppy Appeal. He has also planted a stake in the House of Commons’ Constituency Garden of Remembrance to commemorate the sacrifices of veterans from the Havant Constituency.

Mr Mak delivered a reading from John 15: 12-17 at the service, followed by a two-minute silence, prayers, wreath laying and the national anthem.
