MP Alan Mak has encouraged all residents to come to his first Havant Older Persons’ Information Fair to find out more about the wide range of services that are on offer to senior citizens across the constituency.
The free event is taking place on Friday 14 October from 10am to 3pm at the Hayling Island Community Centre with more than 35 confirmed exhibitors.
They include everything from community groups such as the U3A, Rotary Club and Men’s Shed to statutory bodies such Hampshire County Council, the NHS and Hampshire Police. In addition a number of charities that support older people will also be involved including Age UK, Diabetes Society and the Alzheimers Society.
The Fair is open to everyone but is aimed at older people, their friends, family, neighbours and carers. No prior registration or booking is needed, with attendees encouraged to drop-in anytime on the day. Parking at the Community Centre is free.
Havant MP Alan Mak said: “As your local MP it is my goal to improve life for everyone living across Havant, whether that is getting people back into work through my Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair, celebrating our thriving local economy through my Small Business Awards, or by supporting our many excellent local schools and community groups.
“This first Older Persons’ Information Fair will showcase the very best of what is on offer for our senior citizens in the community while also signposting essential services.
“I fully appreciate the hard work and contribution to society made by our older residents, with many of them running groups for the benefit of the whole community. These help address loneliness, combat illness and improve wellbeing, all of which helps older people live independently for longer, something I am very keen to promote as an MP.
“Hopefully, the Fair will be as fantastically supported as my previous events, and I hope to meet as many of you as possible on the day.”
