Local MP Alan Mak shared the good news with pupils and staff at the Bouncy Bears Nursery based at the Springwood Community Centre

Local MP Alan Mak has welcomed the news that £85,000 of Government funding has been provided to regenerate a play park and construct a community garden in Stakes ward beside the Springwood Community Centre.

The area was selected for £85,000 of funding by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DHLUC) as part of the Levelling Up Parks funding initiative. The funding will be used to construct a new orchard, a community allotment, and regenerating the existing play park with new, safe equipment.

Alan visited the Bouncy Bears Pre-School, based at the Springwood Community Centre, to share the good news with pupils and staff. The funding allocated for the park’s renovation and community garden will mean that local children’s groups like the Bouncy Bears and others will benefit from better local resources.

A public consultation is now open to determine how the new play area should look. Residents can make their views known here.

Local MP Alan Mak said: “It’s great news that the Springwood Play Park area has received £85,000 from the Government. Having met the children at the neighbouring Bouncy Bears Preschool, I know everyone in the area is excited about the prospect of new and better facilities for the local community!”.
