Local MP Alan Mak has championed more affordable rail fares, and welcomed former Rail Minister Chris Heaton-Harris to launch the new National Flexible Rail ticket at Havant Station.

Local MP Alan Mak has welcomed the Government’s new Great British Rail Sale, which sees more than one million train tickets across the UK having their prices slashed by up to 50%, helping residents and families across the Havant Constituency with the cost of living.

This is the first nationwide rail sale in history. Tickets have gone on sale for journeys taking place between 25 April to 27 May, offering passengers from the Havant Constituency significant savings on journeys in and across the UK.

The discount is available on selected Advance tickets from participating rail companies, including Southern and Southwestern. Discounted off peak tickets are also available as an alternative on some routes. Customers can find out more by visiting greatbritishrailsale.nationalrail.co.uk

Tickets from Havant to London Victoria are available for as little as £2.70. Other destinations such as Salisbury, Bristol, Exeter, Gloucester are all available for under £15 each way at selected times.

Local MP Alan Mak said: “It’s great news that the Government has launched this first ever Great British Rail Sale to help families save up to 50% on their tickets for trips across the country. This is a valuable option for people across the Havant Constituency and helps to give more people a chance to catch up with friends and family or take a well-deserved break.”
