Local MP Alan Mak has welcomed the extension of cost of living support for Havant Constituency households.
Those facing financial difficulties will now continue to receive significant support for the next 12 months as Hampshire County Council has secured a new allocation of £12.5m from the Government to sustain its Household Support Fund (HSF) programme.
The HSF is a national programme, created by the last Conservative Government to provide relief to those struggling to afford essential items such as food and warm bedding, as well as recurring household bills.
Previous rounds of funding have enabled the county council to work with local organisations such as charities, education providers and community groups as well as district and borough councils to provide much-needed relief to families and individuals.
Mr Mak said: "The last Conservative Government started the Household Support Fund to help ease cost of living pressures and I have always supported it locally, so I am pleased that funding has been extended for another year.
"This critical funding has already helped thousands of Havant Constituency residents and enables support to be targeted towards those who need it most."
