Local MP Alan Mak has pledged his continued support for QA Hospital at his first meeting with the new Chair of Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, which runs the hospital.
He met Jenni Douglas-Todd at the hospital and they talked about how the new Emergency Department, in which Mr Mak played a key role by securing £58m funding from the previous Conservative Government, had reduced ambulance waits and improved the flow of patients.
Ms Douglas-Todd told Mr Mak the NHS had faced challenging times since Covid, but she wanted the QA to be somewhere people felt proud to work.
They talked about budgetary pressures, but also about some of the hospital's success stories. These include a new state-of-the-art endoscopy centre, the purchase of a fourth MRI scanner and how the QA is leading the way in robotic surgery.
Mr Mak said: "I’m a strong supporter of QA Hospital and our NHS. Helping residents access NHS care is a top priority for me as Havant MP.
"That's why I met Jenni, to pass on residents’ views about QA and pledge my continuing support for the hospital.
"There are some brilliant things going on at QA and I'm happy to help the hospital shout about them."
Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is one of the largest acute hospital trusts in the country, treating over 500,000 patients each year.
Most services are provided at QA Hospital, but the Trust also offers a range of outpatient and diagnostic facilities in community hospital sites and at local treatment centres throughout south east Hampshire.
