Local MP Alan Mak has hosted his 6th annual Havant Constituency Community Information Fair. Following the Fair, Mr Mak has hailed the vibrant local community groups and organisations that continue to thrive as the area continues its recovery from the pandemic.
Over 50 local groups and around 1,000 local residents attended Mr Mak’s sixth annual Havant Constituency Community Information Fair at the Hayling Island Community Centre.
The Constituency Community Information Fair is a staple of Mr Mak’s annual calendar of events for local residents. Last year’s Fair was held virtually due to COVID restrictions, but with the return to the Hayling Island Community Centre it was as well attended as before the pandemic.
Local MP Alan Mak said: “It is just fantastic to be able to welcome residents from all across the Havant Constituency to my sixth annual constituency Community Information Fair. As the constituency continues to recover from the pandemic, it was great to see and hear from such a wide range of exhibitors, all with something unique and interesting to share with our community. We are fortunate to have a vibrant collection of community groups, and as we continue to recover from Covid-19 many continue to go from strength to strength.”
He added: “Thanks to the unmatched pace of the Government’s world-beating vaccination programme, including the three centres across the constituency, we were able to safely host the event in person.”
Among exhibitors at the Fair were Citizens Advice, the RNLI, Samaritans, and Dementia Friends. Dementia Friends hosted, as in previous years, free workshops designed to help residents spot the early signs of dementia.
Avril Stouse from the Hampshire East Trefoil Guild said: “It was brilliant to exhibit at Alan’s Community Information Fair again. It was bustling throughout the day and we’ve managed to speak with many residents who were interested in finding out more about our group.”
Dr Hannah Morgan, from Hayling Island and Emsworth Primary Care Network, added: “Alan’s Information Fair is a fantastic opportunity for us and other local community organisations to speak with residents and highlight the services we offer. Thanks to Alan for organising such a good event!”
