Local MP Alan Mak is to honour service and sacrifice at the Royal British Legion's Festival of Remembrance 2026.
The annual Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall is one of the nation's most important acts of remembrance and is attended by senior members of the Royal Family.
The Festival, which this year takes place on 7 November, brings together serving personnel, veterans and families and pays tribute to the British and Commonwealth Armed Forces from World War One and World War Two to the present day.
This year the Festival marks the 15th anniversary of the end of UK involvement in Iraq. As part of the commemoration, the Royal British Legion and the BBC are planning a special moment where extracts from letters exchanged between Iraq veterans and their families will be read aloud.
The aim is to create a poignant and authentic snapshot of what life was like for service personnel and their families during the Iraq deployment.
Mr Mak, who is Vice-President of the RBL's Havant branch and a longstanding Legion volunteer, said: "I've always been a big supporter of our Armed Forces and am honoured to attend this year's Festival of Remembrance to represent everyone in our community.
"During Remembrancetide, I'll also be collecting for the Poppy Appeal and taking part in events across the Havant Constituency to honour the service and sacrifice of all those have served and continue to serve our country."
