Local MP Alan Mak is encouraging residents across the Havant Constituency to shop local on Small Business Saturday in the run up to Christmas.
The Small Business Saturday campaign runs in December each year, and places an emphasis on small shops and independent retailers, encouraging people across the country to support local businesses. Now in its ninth year in the UK, the campaign has grown significantly each year with a record £1.1 billion spent with small businesses on Small Business Saturday in 2020, and 15.4 million people choosing to shop small.
The shop local message is especially important as the economy recovers from the pandemic
Local MP Alan Mak said: “Small businesses are the backbone of our high streets and local economy. That’s why I am encouraging residents across the Havant Constituency to shop local this Small Business Saturday – and all year round. I have spoken to numerous small business owners and they have told me the extensive Government support such as the furlough scheme and business rates relief has been immensely helpful in keeping their businesses afloat.”
