Local MP Alan Mak celebrated his marriage to Cathy with a service at St. Faith’s Church in Havant today followed by a reception at nearby Stansted House.
Mr Mak and his wife were joined by seventy local residents including friends, councillors, supporters a local MP colleagues including Penny Mordaunt and Gillian Keegan. Former Havant MP Lord David Willetts and Lady Willetts also attended.
The day began with a Christian service at St. Faith’s Church in Havant conducted by Reverend Andrew Sheard. Andrew Sheard is usually based at St. James’ Church in Emsworth but agreed to lead the service during Canon Tom Kennar’s current sabbatical leave.
Hymns at the service included the couple's favourites such as I Vow to Thee My Country and Jerusalem, with several bible readings.
Alan Mak MP said, “Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate our marriage and to everyone who has sent us good wishes! I am thrilled to have married Cathy and we look forward to a long and happy life together!
He continued: “Although the pandemic delayed our engagement and wedding, marriage is important to both of us, and we’re grateful for everyone’s good wishes as we celebrated at St. Faith’s Church and Stansted House!”
Mr and Mrs Mak have known each other since meeting in 2017, and got engaged during a walk in the New Forest in 2020.
The couple have had a short “minimoon” break over the summer recess, and plan a honeymoon sometime in 2023.
