The Health Secretary Matt Hancock has praised everyone involved in the vaccination effort in the Havant Constituency.

It comes as the latest data shows that around half of all adults in the Havant Constituency have now received the first dose of the Coronavirus vaccine.

In total, across the Havant Constituency, comprising Emsworth, Hayling Island, Leigh Park, Havant, Langstone, Bedhampton, Purbrook, Widley and Stakes, 41,400 residents have received the first jab.

It comes after local MP Alan Mak visited all three major local vaccination sites – at Hayling Island Health Centre, Emsworth Baptist Church and Waterlooville Health Centre. In addition, he’s visited pharmacy vaccination centres at the Greywell in Leigh Park and Laly’s Pharmacy in Portsmouth.

Matt Hancock MP said: “I want to say a massive thank you to everybody in the Havant Constituency for the work you have all been doing to get the vaccine rollout going. I want to say a massive thank you to all of the GPs, NHS, the Council, and to your local MP Alan Mak who has been leading the charge, getting the message out, visiting all of the vaccination sites and saying how it is so important that people get the vaccine.”

Mr Mak echoed the praise of the Health Secretary and encouraged everyone over the age of 50 to come forward for a vaccine.

He said: “I am delighted that the Health Secretary has recognised all of the hard working NHS staff and volunteers who have contributed to the vaccination rollout.  Thank you to everyone who has come forward to get a vaccine so far, it is safe and provides you with vital protection against Coronavirus.

“As we continue to vaccinate thousands of people a week in the Havant Constituency, I encourage you if contacted by the NHS to book an appointment at one our local sites. With your support for our vaccination programme we can defeat Coronavirus.”

NHS England have advised that people will receive an invitation to come forward to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. This could be a phone call, text message or a letter, either from their GP or the national NHS. Residents should wait to be contacted, unless you are over the age of 50, in which case you should www.nhs.uk to book an appointment.
