Havant MP Alan Mak MP is one of the top twenty most active of the 74 new Conservative MPs in the House of Commons, according to research by The Independent newspaper. He is also the most active new Conservative MP from the Solent region covered by the News.

Between speeches and questions he has made 115 contributions since being elected in May last new year, making Alan the 19th most active of the new 2015 Conservative cohort.

Commenting on the figures, Alan said: “I’ve worked hard locally and in Westminster since being elected by residents, and it’s a real privilege to speak up for the Havant constituency in Parliament. I’m determined to take every opportunity to represent residents in the Chamber and elsewhere. Alongside my surgeries in the constituency, a pro-active approach to Westminster helps me to deliver for local people.”

“In the last few weeks I have spoken on a broad range of issues including income tax, more funding for local schools, flexible rail fares for commuters, and to congratulate Warblington School’s Archie Hayward on his incredible achievement in securing work experience at Europe’s centre for nuclear research – CERN.”

Councillor Mike Fairhurst, Chairman of Havant Conservative Association, added:

“We’re very pleased to have such a hard-working, effective MP representing Havant in the House of Commons. Alan is a champion of important local causes such as economic growth, schools, skills provision, and making Havant an attractive destination for investment. We are fully behind Alan and his work on behalf of local residents.”

Cllr Fairhurst added: “Alan is also active on the ground across the Havant constituency, supporting local community projects and organising events such as the Havant Jobs Fair and Small Business Awards.”
