Local MP Alan Mak has successfully campaigned for Havant & Waterlooville Football Club to be allowed to play in the National League South’s playoffs.

Alan met Havant & Waterlooville FC’s Chairman, Manager & management at Westleigh Park to offer his support for promotion after they finished 2nd in the National League South when the League was stopped due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Alan’s work included writing several letters to the National League management, running a social media campaign, and engaging with the Sports Minister who confirmed that whether National League South Playoffs take place is a matter for the League and not the Government. The League has mistakenly believed that Government guidance prevented clubs like Havant & Waterlooville from taking part in the playoffs.

The League has now agreed to hold playoff matches, and Havant & Waterlooville will be taking part thanks to Alan’s successful campaign. Local media coverage of Alan’s campaign can be found below.
