Local MP Alan Mak has chaired the second meeting of the newly formed Hayling Island Health Forum which he founded. The Forum includes the Island’s two medical practices together with local and regional NHS bodies, and meets at the Hayling Island Health Centre in Mengham.
The new Forum was established by Mr Mak earlier this year and is formed from the two local GP surgeries on Hayling Island (Elms and Waterside) along with senior figures from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board (ICB), Hayling and Emsworth Primary Care Network (PCN), Havant Borough Council and Hampshire County Council.
The second meeting was focussed on how the parties could work together to deliver meaningful health outcomes for the Island, and share the latest health-related news and ideas, building on the commitment to collaboration agreed upon at the first meeting in March 2023.
The Health Forum will meet again later this year.
Alan Mak MP said, “Health and wellbeing are on everyone’s minds after the pandemic. That’s why I brought together Hayling’s two GP surgeries, NHS bodies and our local councils earlier this year to work more closely together which benefits everyone living on the Island. I am continuing to work closely with all these groups and bringing them together will make our work more effective and co-ordinated so Hayling residents benefit.”
He added: “I am looking forward to chairing the next meeting of the Health Forum later this year where we can continue our discussions on how to best benefit the healthcare outcomes we see on the Island.”
