Local MP Alan Mak has attended a Coronation picnic at St Thomas à Becket Church in Warblington, Havant to celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. The event was attended by over 50 local residents, who gathered to toast to the new King's reign and bless two new benches in the church yard.
"I was pleased to join Reverend Andrew Sheard and Church Warden Peter Eberle at the Coronation picnic at St Thomas à Becket Church," said Alan. "It was wonderful to see so many local residents come together to celebrate this historic occasion."
During the event, two new benches were blessed in the churchyard, one commemorating the reign of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and another for the reign of His Majesty King Charles III. The party then sang God Save the King and toasted to His Majesty's reign. Alan also helped to decorate a special Coronation flower crown in the church yard.
"It was a lovely event, and it was a pleasure to help decorate the Coronation flower crown," said Peter Eberle, the churchwarden at St Thomas à Becket. "The new benches in the churchyard are a fitting tribute to both Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III, and it was great to be part of the blessing."
