Local MP Alan Mak has welcomed soldiers from the 16th Regiment Royal Artillery to Parliament for a tour and a question and answer session.
Based in Thorney Island next to the Havant Constituency, 16th Regiment has a proud history of service dating back to 1947. They are the British Army’s only Regiment equipped with Medium Range Air Defence capability, and specialise in protecting ground units from attack by enemy aircraft. The Regiment has recently been involved in operations in Poland following the outbreak of conflict in Ukraine, and in the Falklands.
The Regiment recruits from and is active in the Havant Constituency, with members living and working in Emsworth particularly. The Regiment often attend Remembrance services and other civic occasions such as the St. George’s Day Parade in Emsworth.
Alan met Captain James Billingham and thanked his contingent of Royal Artillery servicemen and women for their service to our country and the local community around the Havant Constituency.

They contribute to our local community and play a key role protecting our interests at home and abroad, most recently in Poland following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. I will continue to support our Armed Forces in Parliament and locally.”
