Local MP Alan Mak has joined volunteers on the frontline across the Havant constituency delivering medical supplies and food to residents in self-isolation.

It comes after the MP launched his Local Volunteer Network to support isolated and vulnerable members of the community during the Coronavirus outbreak.

So far hundreds of residents have signed-up, with Alan passing on information to relevant authorities and local groups as well as organising his own deliveries.

Across the constituency Alan and his team have also been directly helping those in need by picking-up shopping, posting mail and providing urgent supplies.

Alan said: “I know many residents are self-isolating at home because they are at high risk or they have contracted the virus, which is why it is absolutely vital our community comes together to support those in need. I was pleased some of those vital deliveries myself across our constituency.

“If you are self-isolating and need of help do get in touch with me, or visit my website to join my Coronavirus Local Volunteer Network. In the coming weeks and months, we all have to work together to support each other and our community and all the support so far has been absolutely brilliant.

“While as a country we fight this dangerous disease, I also urge everyone to continue to follow Government and NHS advice.”

Alan has set-up a dedicated section of his website that will be keeping up-to-date with all of the latest information and advice he receives in relation to the outbreak of Coronavirus.

All the information is from trusted sources and includes advice from central and local Government; the NHS including Public Health England (PHE); and other public bodies and relevant organisations.

If you, or someone you know, feels unwell with possible COVID-19 symptoms use the online NHS 111 service https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19

Current NHS advice is that if you have symptoms stay at home for 7 days. If you live with other people, they should stay at home for 14 days from the day the first person got symptoms.
