The Google Digital Garage will be visiting Alan Mak’s fifth annual Jobs, Apprenticeships and Careers Fair taking place next month.
The Local MP is bringing back the event, which has attracted thousands of residents, to the Havant Leisure Centre on Friday 13 March from 10am to 2pm.
This year for the first time Google will be providing residents key employability skills through their Digital Garage.
Alan said: “I am delighted that the Google Digital Garage will be at my fifth Jobs, Apprenticeships and Careers Fair. Having the right CV and interview techniques is vital to getting a job, so it will be excellent to have an expert on hand to give job hunters tips for success. All the sessions are free so I encourage anyone who has any questions or needs advice to come on the day.”
The sessions taking place are: Build a CV, write a cover letter and build effective presentations, taking from 10am at hour intervals. All of them are free to attend with no requirement to book in advance.
Ronan Harris, Google UK & Ireland Managing Director, said: “Having the right digital skills can have a transformative impact on business growth and job creation. Our hope is that by providing dedicated, tailored training through the Digital Garage we can help bring new growth to the Havant community and across the country. We want to show businesses how digital skills can help them to thrive, not just as a place for commerce, but also as a cultural centrepiece of the communities that they serve.”
As well as the Google Digital Garage, Alan’s Jobs Fair will include around 50 organisations offering jobs and apprenticeships from a range of different sectors including retail, manufacturing, healthcare, armed forces and construction.
Some of the exhibitors that are confirmed as attending the Fair so far include the Royal Air Force, Barratt Homes, Estee Lauder and the University of Chichester, amongst many more.
Alan encouraged any residents looking for a job, thinking about changing career, starting an apprenticeship or seeking careers advice to come on the day.
He said: “We are fortunate in our area to have so many excellent local businesses that offer high quality jobs and apprenticeships, and many of them will be exhibiting on the day.
“So whether you are looking for work, thinking about an apprenticeship or just interested in hearing from some of our excellent employers I encourage you to come to the fair to find out more.”
