Local MP Alan Mak has launched a new cross-party group to lobby the new operators of the Havant to London line to deliver on their promises of faster, better trains.
The All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Wessex Railway Route will lobby South Western Railways to ensure they deliver improved services for customers.
It comes after First Group and MTR took over the route last summer, promising additional services, flexible season tickets and increased capacity.
Alan, who will be a Co-Founder and Vice Chair of the new group, has been in regular contact with South Western over the last year but hopes the APPG will be effective way of lobbying on behalf of constituents.
He said: “I am pleased to co-found this new campaign group in Parliament which will keep the pressure on South Western to deliver better services. As a regular user of the trains I know how vital the Havant to London route is in delivering economic growth for our area. As First Group and MTR approach the end of their first year running the franchise I expect them to deliver on the promises they made during the bidding process and ensure improved reliability of their trains.”
