Havant MP Alan Mak has confirmed he will help deliver the outcome of last June's EU Referendum and vote to trigger Article 50, the mechanism used initiate the process of leaving the European Union.
It follows a ruling by the Supreme Court on Tuesday that Parliament must be consulted before Article 50 is invoked.
Alan Mak MP said: “In last June’s Referendum, the British people voted to leave the EU and I will vote in Parliament to ensure that result is respected. Brexit will happen, and now we must back the Prime Minister as she starts negotiations to get the best deal for Britain as we build a new relationship with the EU. I fully expect Parliament as a whole to vote to trigger Article 50 to start the process of leaving the EU, and respect the result of the EU Referendum. Regardless of how people voted in the EU Referendum, we now need to unite, move forward and get the best deal for Britain.”
