Havant MP Alan Mak met the inspirational local Pfizer employees at the pharmaceuticals factory in Havant last week, to talk about their work both globally and locally and tour the site.
Pfizer Global Supply Site Havant specialises in packaging and distributing medicines and vaccines across the UK and worldwide. Over 73 million doses of large molecule temperature-sensitive vaccines and injectable medicines are packaged and supplied to 86 countries and 122 destinations throughout the world, helping to save and improve the lives of millions of people every year. They work with many organisations, including non-governmental organisations (NGOs) such as Gavi, a global Vaccine Alliance, to create equal access to vaccines for children living in the world’s poorest countries.
On his visit, Alan met with site lead Carole Johnson, to discuss Pfizer’s Global Supply, and Aoiffe O’Brien to talk about Pfizer UK Priorities.
Carole Johnson, Havant Site Lead, Pfizer Global Supply said: “Alan’s visit provided us with a great opportunity to share the work we do both on a local and global basis and for him to meet some of the local constituents that work at the site. We were pleased to update Alan on our research to develop the medicines of the future, and to discuss our role in supplying the medicines of today to the NHS.”
Alan Mak MP said "I was very inspired by the work of the Pfizer employees I met during my visit. I'm proud that Havant residents are producing and distributing medicines and vaccines that save lives in Britain and around the world. Pfizer is a large local employer and its employees also contribute to the community by supporting local charities and I look forward to supporting their work in the future."
