Local MP Alan Mak has welcomed the Government’s continued support for the most vulnerable residents in the Havant Constituency as an additional £900 of means-tested Cost of Living payments are made available from April 2023.
Almost one in four families across the UK will receive £301 from the Government as part of the Cost of Living Payments being sent out, including 11,600 households in the Havant Constituency.
10,500 people in the Havant Constituency will also receive the Government’s Disability Cost of Living payment worth £150 again this financial year.
These payments are being made directly to eligible individuals, with no need for residents to apply or do anything to receive it.
In addition to the payments, the Government’s Energy Price Guarantee is continuing to ensure the average family’s energy bill does not exceed £2500 for the year until the end of June 2023.
Local MP Alan Mak said: “Households are facing rising living costs as a result of Putin’s illegal war in Ukraine, and the Government is rightly protecting the most vulnerable people in the Havant Constituency. 11,600 families in our area are eligible for a further means-tested cost of living payment worth £301 from today, and £900 in total for the 2023-24 financial year. These payments will give families much needed support, protecting vulnerable people who are most exposed to rising prices.”
