Local MP Alan Mak has welcomed the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence's announcement that it has recommended Enhertu for use on the NHS in England.
This is a landmark moment for people with HER2-low metastatic breast cancer. Access to this vital life-extending drug means thousands of people will have the opportunity to spend more precious time with loved ones.
Mr Mak has been a firm supporter of Breast Cancer Now's 'Enhertu Now' campaign, which, alongside METUPUK and Make 2nds Count, has relentlessly called on pharmaceutical companies Daiichi Sankyo and AstraZeneca, NHS England and NICE for over two years to find a solution that would make Enhertu available to the patients who so desperately need it.
He said: "It's fantastic news that this life-extending drug has been made available on the NHS in England, and I am proud to have supported the campaign and local residents in the Havant Constituency who need it.
"Women in England living with HER2-low metastatic breast cancer have been left in limbo for too long. This decision finally changes that, giving them access to a vital new drug when they need it most."
