Local MP Alan Mak has welcomed the news that 481 new police officers have been recruited in Hampshire since 2019.
These extra officers will mean local police commanders have more resources to deploy.
Mr Mak also secured a visit from Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner Donna Jones to the Havant Constituency to visit key anti-social behaviour (ASB) hotspots. Mr Mak has campaigned for more police resources to be directed towards tackling anti-social behaviour in our area.
Mr Mak has helped to secure extra funding in Westminster for Hampshire Police, and has made tackling anti-social behaviour in the Havant Constituency one of his top policing priorities following a meeting with new Havant Police District Commander Habs Rahman earlier this year.
Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner Donna Jones is the elected politician responsible for setting policing priorities and strategy across Hampshire, and managing Hampshire Police’s budget.
The current recruitment drive is part of a 2019 Government manifesto commitment to recruit 20,000 new police officers by March 2023.
Local MP Alan Mak said: “I work closely with Hampshire Police around the Havant Constituency and I know how hard they work every day to keep our communities safe. Extra officers means local commanders have more police to deploy in our local communities to target criminals and keep neighbourhoods safe.”
