Local MP Alan Mak has visited the Government-funded Link Up Leigh Park Youth Hub again for a special open day. The event gave local young people looking for employment the chance to meet businesses and support services.
It was also an ideal opportunity for members of the Hub team, who provide help with employment, training and skills to 16 to 24-year-olds, to showcase their work.
Mr Mak says it is great news that the Hub, which is based at the Front Lawn Community Hub on Somborne Drive in Leigh Park, has already helped more than 100 young people into work since it began in September 2022. It shows that our local economy is strong and growing with lots of job opportunities, which is good news for local people.
The open day included a range of organisations such as the Prince's Trust, Community First, plus local employers and training providers such as PETA. Mr Mak enjoyed meeting the team from PETA and seeing their 3D printer in action!
The Link Up Leigh Park Youth Hub is open Monday-Friday,10am-4pm and can assist with CV writing, job applications, interview attendance and confidence-building. It can also play an important part in the health and wellbeing of young people.
