Local MP Alan Mak took part in a parade and service in Havant to mark Remembrance Sunday.

He and civic dignitaries joined veterans, soldiers from 16 Regiment Royal Artillery, cadets, Scouts, Guides, representatives of the Royal British Legion and pipers accompanied by drums of the Hampshire Caledonian Pipe Band as they marched from the RBL headquarters in Brockhampton Lane and through Havant town centre.

An Act of Remembrance then took place at Havant War Memorial outside St Faith's Church, during which Mr Mak and others read out names on the Roll of Honour of all those from Havant who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Wreaths were then laid and a two-minute silence observed.

This ceremony was followed by a service inside St Faith's Church, led by the Rector of Havant, Canon Tom Kennar, where Mr Mak gave the first reading.

Ahead of Remembrance Sunday, Mr Mak also joined local volunteers and supporters of the Royal British Legion in Havant and Hayling Island to help sell poppies.

He is Vice-President of the RBL's Havant branch and a longstanding Legion volunteer.

Mr Mak said: "Every year at Remembrancetide, I take part in events across the Havant Constituency to honour the service and sacrifice of all those have served and continue to serve our country.

It was an honour to take part in the parade and services.

"Thank you to Canon Tom Kennar and to local residents for their strong support for the Poppy Appeal and their participation in events on Remembrance Sunday and throughout Remembrancetide in and around Havant."
