Local MP Alan Mak has visited the new Link Up Youth Hub in Leigh Park to meet staff and young jobseekers who are benefitting from the advice on offer to find employment.
The Youth Hub, at the Front Lawn Community Centre in Leigh Park, offers support and coaching to 16-24 year olds seeking next steps in employment, education or training. It is funded by central Government.
The Hub is open for 5 days a week between 10am and 4pm, and can assist with CV writing, job applications, interview attendance, confidence building, as well as playing an important role in the health and wellbeing of young people who come forward.
At the Youth Hub, Mr Mak met Mason Robinson, 22, from Leigh Park who is currently out of work and seeking employment. Mason spoke about how the youth hub has assisted him with filling in job applications, as well as training him in basic working practices such as email etiquette, interview skills and rebuilding his confidence.
Local MP Alan Mak said: “I was delighted to meet Mason at the Youth Hub and see how this new facility is helping him find a job. The Hub is a great asset for our area helping local people fulfil their potential and find work.”
