Local MP Alan Mak has praised the work of Leigh Park-based mental health charity Off the Record during a meeting with Chief Executive Kate Glasby.
Since 1977 Off the Record has been helping young people with mental health issues such as anxiety, low self esteem, self harm and even suicidal thoughts by offering counselling services and referrals.
They offer valuable support to young mental health patients and sessions for parents and family. Starting this summer they are also offering family counselling. Furthermore they have group sessions bringing those who need support together.
In the 2021/2022 financial year Off the Record had 632 active service users and 3587 counselling sessions booked. This is almost double the number of sessions from the previous year.
Mr Mak met with Kate Glasby, a counsellor and the board of trustees and he was given an update of the charity’s current work and future plans.
Local MP Alan Mak said: “Thank you to Kate for inviting me to visit Off the Record again. It is a fantastic local charity that is helping a lot of young people across the Havant Constituency.”
Off the Record Chief Executive Kate Glasby said: “Thank you Alan for coming to visit us. We are a growing charity based in Leigh Park offering our services to anyone in need. If you or someone you know isn’t feeling or acting right, don’t be afraid to get in touch with us.”
