Local MP Alan Mak has welcomed the latest data showing that over 1 in 3 adults in the Havant Constituency have now received the first dose of the Coronavirus vaccine.
In total, across the Havant Constituency, comprising Emsworth, Langstone, Hayling Island, Leigh Park, Havant, Bedhampton, Purbrook, Widley and Stakes, 32,660 residents have received the first jab, placing Havant in the top 80 Parliamentary constituencies in England for delivering the rollout.
It comes after Mr Mak visited all three major local vaccination sites serving the Havant Constituency – at Hayling Island Health Centre, Emsworth Baptist Church and Waterlooville Health Centre. In addition, he’s visited pharmacy-led vaccination centres at the Greywell in Leigh Park and Laly’s Pharmacy in Portsmouth.
Mr Mak praised everyone involved in the vaccination programme for the fast-start to the vaccination programme.
He said: “We are incredibly fortunate in the Havant Constituency to have a dedicated team of doctors, nurses and NHS staff, who have alongside volunteers and pharmacists been tremendous in delivering the vaccine to so many people. The vaccine is safe and provides vital protection against Coronavirus.
“As we continue to vaccinate thousands of people a week in the Havant Constituency, I encourage everyone contacted by the NHS to get vaccinated at one our local sites. With your support, our vaccination programme will defeat Coronavirus.”
NHS England have advised that people will receive an invitation to come forward to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. This could be a phone call, text message or a letter, either from their GP or the national NHS. Residents should wait to be contacted, unless you are over the age of 70, in which case you should call 119 free of charge to book an appointment.
