Local MP Alan Mak has praised two teenagers from Hayling Island on their plans to pursue careers in the Armed Forces during a visit to their Cadet Platoon Detachment.
Cadets Cashford and Watkins joined the MP during his visit to their Detachment, where the three took part in lessons on radiotelephony, communications and the importance of using standard issue callsigns in the field.
Following the training lessons, the local MP asked the two Cadets about their post-16 plans as they have recently completed their GCSEs. Both intend to pursue military careers after their time at school. Cadet Cashford is planning to go to the Army Foundation College in Harrogate, while Cadet Watkins will be completing a Uniformed Services course at Havant & South Downs College.
Local MP Alan Mak said: “ I was delighted to meet Hayling Island cadets Watkins and Cashford and wish them the very best for their future careers in the Army. Our Armed Forces rely on talented young people joining up and I’m delighted Hayling is contributing to the future of our military.”
