Local MP Alan Mak has launched his well-established annual Small Business and Community awards for a 7th year running.

The Havant Constituency MP has run the awards every year since he was elected to the post in 2015. They have since grown to include recognition for local community groups as well as popular local businesses across the Havant Constituency.

Award categories include Best Independent Food Outlet, Outstanding Contribution to the Community, Best New Business, Best Apprentice, Best Community Group, Green Business of the Year, Local Charity of the Year, Best Local Tradesperson, Volunteer of the Year, Sports Group of the Year and Best Pub.

Local MP Alan Mak said: “Every year I receive hundreds of nominations from residents for my Awards, so this year I am delighted to expand the event to recognise some of our local heroes working tirelessly for our community.”

"Whether it is your favourite café, restaurant or shop – or you want to recognise a community champion who has gone the extra mile – please send me your nominations online."

Alan started his Awards to recognise the Constituency’s best loved local firms, having worked in his own family’s small business growing up. He added that these small businesses are an integral part of the local community, bringing together and supporting community groups.

Alan Mak added: “Having helped manage my family’s business, I know first-hand just how much hard work goes into keeping a small business afloat. I want my Small Business and Community awards to be a recognition of that hard work by local people, and a chance for residents to recognise the individuals and businesses that do so much for our area.”

A wide range of local businesses are backing Alan’s Awards., including Citrus Flowers in Emsworth, Mike’s Kitchen on Hayling Island and Cut N’ Dry in Purbrook.
