Local MP Alan Mak has visited the Trosnant Junior School in Bedhampton to meet pupils in Year 6 who have been studying democracy in their class.
Mr Mak was shown some of the work that the pupils had been working on, and was able to address the pupils to discuss the importance of democracy, voting and free speech.
Mr Mak was then asked a number of questions by the pupils, ranging from his views on local issues to his work in Government.
Mr Mak also took the opportunity to invite the students to Parliament for a tour. Parliamentary tours have restarted following a two-year pause owing to COVID restrictions.
Local MP Alan Mak said: “I was delighted to visit Trosnant Junior School to meet Year 6 pupils and field questions on a range of topics. We discussed everything from my work in Parliament to local issues. The children were full of energy and enthusiasm for politics, and I look forward to seeing them in the future in Parliament.”
Cesare Galasso, a teacher at the school, said: “Thank you to Alan Mak MP for visiting our school. The children were pleased meet their local MP after learning all about the Houses of Parliament and politics in our study of democracy. It really brought the topic of politics alive for the children.”
