Local MP Alan Mak has praised Jess Webb, a young constituent from Emsworth, who has successfully raised over £30,000 for research into Huntington’s Disease.
The Havant MP met Jess at her home with mum Sarah, where the three discussed the success of Jess’ campaigns and Alan offered his support.
He also presented Miss Webb with a bottle of House of Commons wine as a raffle prize for her next event. He recognised her valuable contribution to both the local community and the international effort to find a cure for Huntington’s Disease.
Huntington’s Disease is a progressive brain disorder. It is a hereditary disease and is caused by the brain’s degeneration of nerve cells. Over time the person with Huntington’s Disease will experience changes in their movements, behaviour and mental well-being.
Jess’ uncle and grandfather have both sadly passed away from the disease, and she has made it her mission since to raise funds for more research so that future cases are better understood, and improved support for affected families.
Jess’ next event is a supercar track day at Goodwood Motor Circuit. Entry is free from 9am on Sunday March 4, and visitors will have the opportunity to pay for a fast lap in a supercar. All proceeds raised will go to Huntington’s Disease charities.
