Local MP Alan Mak has called for illegal migrants to be deported within seven days and banned from claiming asylum.
He spoke in Parliament and challenged Home Office Minister Sarah Jones, saying the Labour Government was 'losing control of our borders'.
Mr Mak made his comments after protestors gathered at Eastney in Portsmouth when around 140 migrants, who had crossed the Channel in a large dinghy, were picked up by RNLI lifeboats and landed ashore.
They were then transferred to the Manston processing centre in Kent.
This followed similar protests in Dover over small boat crossings.
There has been widespread concern at illegal migrants, who normally land near Dover, now making the longer crossing to Portsmouth. This has followed an increase in policing in the Calais area.
Mr Mak said: "No small boats arrived on Hayling island or in any other part of my constituency.
"Nevertheless, residents are concerned, and agree with me that anyone who enters the UK illegally should be deported within a week and banned from claiming asylum."
He added: "Does the Minister also agree, and will she and the Home Secretary meet me, and other Members on both sides of the House, to explain the police and Home Office responses, and why Labour has lost control of our borders?"
