Around 60 organisations are gearing up to exhibit at Havant Leisure Centre on Friday for the second Havant Jobs, Apprenticeship and Careers Fair, organised by local MP Alan Mak.
This year more than 600 jobs and 275 apprenticeships will be on offer for local residents, as well as specialist workshops run by the National Careers Service.
The fair, which is supported by the News, is aimed at job hunters, school leavers or anyone thinking about a change of career and Havant MP Mr Mak encourages all residents to come along on the day to find out more.
Running from 10am to 4pm, admission is free for all visitors. Representatives from dozens of industries from both the public and private sectors, ranging from the Armed Forces to care agencies and retail, will be on hand to offer jobs and advice.
Key exhibitors include Fat Face, who will be opening a new distribution centre at Dunsbury Park later this year, South West Trains, construction firm Barratt Homes, Langstone Technology Park management company Fasset and defence contractor Lockheed Martin.
Mr Mak said: “I am delighted that once again we have had an excellent response from local businesses, organisations, public bodies and charities who will be exhibiting on the day. To have more than 600 jobs and 275 apprenticeships on offer shows that we have a buoyant local economy, with expanding businesses.
“I look forward to meeting as many residents as possible on the day, and I hope that we can recreate the many success stories of last year. I encourage anyone who is thinking about changing career, looking for work or considering an apprenticeship to come along on the day and find out more.”
Six workshops will be taking place on the day run by the National Careers Service, no booking is needed. A CV writing workshop will be at 10.30am and 1pm; interview technique workshop at 11.30am and 2pm; and an apprenticeship workshop at 12.15pm and 3pm.
