Local MP Alan Mak says he will be voting for the Brexit deal in Parliament tomorrow (Tuesday 15 January).
Speaking ahead of the vote, he said it was important to deliver on Brexit and the Withdrawal Agreement represented the best chance for ensuring the UK leaves the EU.
Mr Mak also stated that he would be voting against any amendment that sought to delay or cancel Brexit.
He said: “Since the referendum in June 2016 I have consistently voted to ensure that Britain leaves the EU on 29 March this year. As last week’s votes on the Grieve Amendment and the Finance Bill show, No Deal Brexit/leaving without a deal would not be allowed by House of Commons as currently composed so the most Brexit option available is backing the Government’s Brexit deal. Those voting in favour of the deal will be sending a message to the EU that we still believe Brexit should happen.”
